We have spent more than two years designing and constructing the Oktopus III.
While we wanted to retain the Oktopus DNA stretching back to generation I we aimed to make it even more particular and essential. We have delved deeper into the essence of the watch through innumerable conversations, drawings, and trials back and forth.
One aspect was to make it more compact and stronger to enhance the allusion of it protecting the life inside – movement, dial, and hands - while submerging into the sea. Another aspect was to further align movement, dial, hands, and case so that each part appears coherent and as part of a whole.
Throughout the process we considered what the Oktopus means in relation to the SpidoLite and how the two families differ and complement each other. Some of the choices we have made for the Oktopus will then later reflect what we do with the SpidoLite family.
The creative process itself is by no means a straight line but more explorations and ideas between me, design, and our production.
