Lars Schoyen
A380 Captain / Dubai

How were you introduced to the LW brand initially and which piece do you own?
I have a long standing interest in watches. I have followed LW with fascination since the early days. There is definitely also an element of national pride being Danish myself. My LW is the Oktopus II rose gold. No 19/88.

Talk us through your typical work day…
That’s the beauty of the job of a pilot. No two days are alike. I am an instructor on the Airbus A380. One day I could be doing a short one hour flight to Muscat and the next a 16 hour flight to Los Angeles. The other side of my job is training new pilots and captain trainees in the simulators, exposing them to different operational and technical scenarios.

What do you carry in your luggage?
Anything from swimming trunks for Mauritius to polar gear for a cold Toronto day.

Favourite summer and winter holiday spots when you are not working?
Summer in Portugal. Winter in Switzerland.

Favourite restaurant when working or traveling?
Cafe Norden in Copenhagen.

Favourite activity when you have time off from work?
Painting while enjoying a good glass of wine.

What do you usually wear alongside your LW?
I wear my LW for every occasion. I don’t believe in male jewellery. The watch is enough. I have a nice collection including a Rolex Daytona and a Rolex Deepsea, but I haven’t worn them since I bought the Oktopus.

What is your favourite Linde Werdelin 2019 timepiece?
That would be the Oktopus Volcano.
